The TORNado installation project was started by Professor Crawford as a way to explore the spirit of survival. She formed a team of artists and writers to help her in this journey of discovery. Analysis and reflections are depicted through a multimedia experience-ranging from the artists' individual pieces, paintings, sculpture/design, to writing-presented in an installed exhibition of three rooms.

Becoming resilient is an inherently human experience which this project seeks to explore. The following questions relate merely the "jumping off" point this project is discussing:

What constitutes a disaster? How is internal and external suffering related? How are the difficulties of the human condition eased by relationships? How can the gulf between the afflicted and those who wish to help be comprehended and rectified?
